Warragul Regional College students will showcase their creative talents as they return to the stage in production "Rock of Ages".
Featuring many iconic 80s rock songs, the college encourages the community to attend one of three shows held at the West Gippsland Arts Centre shows this weekend. The fun, humorous and foot-tapping production will be offered on Friday at 7.30pm and Saturday at 2pm and 7.30pm.
Staff and students at Warragul Regional College have been working hard since February as they rehearse for their first school production in several years.
"Rock of Ages" tells the story of a country girl named Sherrie who dreams of making a career in the music industry. Sherrie finds work as a barmaid on the Sunset Strip where she falls in love with a bartender named Drew.
While fumbling through their feelings for each other and making newfound friends, they find themselves in a battle with retail developers who want to tear down the music venues and replace them with a mall, threatening to end all their dreams.
The show features iconic rock songs by bands such as "Bon Jovi", "Guns n' Roses", "Extreme" and many more.
"The past two years of lockdowns have been very hard on our young people," says Warragul Regional College head of drama Steve Wiegerink. "We sincerely hope audiences can get along and support our youth as they set about putting themselves out there and expressing their creativity again."
Tickets are $30 for general, $25 for members, $20 for concession and youth, and $80 for a family of four.
For bookings, contact the arts centre box-office on 5624 2456 or visit wgac.com.au.
