Truck spreads roadside fire

A truck loaded with hay and on fire unbeknown to the driver, set fire to a 1.5km stretch of Heartsridge Rd at Trafalgar East last Tuesday.
Police said the driver of the vehicle noticed smoke coming from the truck's trailer just before 10.30am, and took steps to pull over in the driveway of a nearby property.
As the truck moved along the road to find a place to pull over, a grassfire spread along the roadside.
Emergency services were called to the scene and members of the CFA extinguished the 1.5km long grassfire.
Police said there was no significant damage to nearby land or property.
