Trafalgar force draw in thriller

One shot down on the scoreboard and with one bowl to play, Trafalgar played out a thriller against undefeated Traralgon in round six on Saturday.
It was skip Matt Schreyer who stood up, drawing the shot to force an overall draw.
The division one side had taken the Carlo Bortignon Shield to Traralgon for the winner to hold for the next 12 months. The drawn result allows Trafalgar to retain the shield.
Traralgon remains top of the ladder and Trafalgar holds fourth, but will gain great confidence from the result.
Division one: Trafalgar drew Traralgon 73/73
Matt Schreyer (skip), Adam Proctor, Ted Kuklinsky and Graham Hill lost to Vin McIlwain's team, 16/20.
Chris Bortignon (skip), Matt Coutts, Mick Fleming and Matt Ogilvie lost to Michael Yacoub's team, 15/16.
Tommy Lodge (skip), Ian Miles, Paul Dawson and Wayne Hurst lost to Wayne Lynch's team, 18/22.
However, Nathan Cook's team of David Cook, Noel Rubenstein and Tim Fraser had a 24/15 win over James Scullin's team to force the draw.
Division three: Trafalgar (2) defeated Yinnar 81/66
Welcoming the teams from Yinnar onto the "Blue Lagoon", Trafalgar had a good win to be third on the ladder.
The rink of the week was again Mal Clymo (skip), Peter Watson, Darryl Horner and Sue Robinson who had an 18-shot win over Murray Delahaye's team, 27/9.
Frank Farrugia (skip), Terry Robertson, Barry Leicester and Col Carmichael won against Tim Roche's team, 19-17.
Derek Jones (skip), Peter Dart, Luke McFarlane and Larry Heenan got up by seven over Luka Djudurovic's team, 25/18.
Peter Jonas (skip), Helen Robertson, Tony Dawson and Kathy Geisler had a 10/22 loss to Russell Peters' team.
Division five: Trafalgar (3) defeated Warragul (3) 59/55
Trafalgar had a close win over Warragul on the "Swamp" green, with the margin just four shots.
Pat Tatterson (skip), Heather Taylor, Travis Jenkins and Graeme Ralls won 21/10.
Paul Gridley (skip), Margaret Moss, Sarah Jenkins and Lincoln Fraser won 23/14.
Ed Davies (skip), Denise Fenton, Xavier Schreyer and Roslyn Blew lost 15/31.
Midweek
It was a tough Tuesday for the Trafalgar sides, with three losses recorded.
Playing the top side, Trafalgar remain just inside the top four despite the 17-shot loss.
Division one: Trafalgar lost to Newborough 44/61
Matt Schreyer (skip), David Cook, Pat Tatterson and Graham Hill won 25/16 over Scott Jones' team.
Adam Proctor (skip), Nathan Cook, Helen Robertson and Peter Rosenboom lost 9/29.
Matt Coutts (skip), Mick Fleming, Terry Robertson and Sue Robinson also lost 10/16 to Sheryl Atkinson's rink.
Division two: Trafalgar (2) lost to Newborough (2) 47/69
Paul Dawson (skip), Ian Riley, Heather Taylor and Kathy Geisler took out rink of the week with a 13-shot win over Robbert Cook 's team, 28-15.
Peter Watson (skip), Kyen Jenkins, Mandy Miles and Joanna Reekie lost 10/32.
Wayne Hurst (skip), Ed Davies, Marg Moss and Tony Dawson lost 9/22.
Division five: Trafalgar (3) lost to Traralgon RSL (3) 31/47
Darryl Horner (skip), Karen Johnson, Larry Heenan and Bev Webb lost 15/20.
Paul Gridley (skip), Denise Fenton, Col Carmichael and Ros Blew lost 16/27.
