Locals have helped raise more than $7500 for the West Gippsland Hospital Oncology Unit at the inaugural Liza Pharaoh Junior Netball Tournament on Sunday.
The event, run by charity Pharaoh's Secret Angels, saw 24 teams from all around the area compete at the Burke St courts in Warragul to have fun, shoot some goals and raise money for an important cause.
Money was raised from team entry fees, raffles and a barbecue on the day.
The tournament, named after Warragul Industrials legend Liza Pharaoh, who passed away in 2021, had four age sections - 17 and under, 15 and under, 13 and under and 11 and under.
The 17 and under section was won by Moe Football Netball Club, Warragul Industrials took out the 15 and under, 13 and under was claimed by Labertouche Lions and Warranor won the 11 and under.
Fittingly, Liza's old club took home the overall club championship, up against stiff competition from other clubs such as Garfield, Longwarry, Poowong, Warranor and Trafalgar, as well as a number of independent teams.
Tournament committee member Sophie Cook said the day was a "great success.
"The feedback we got was how well organised and well run it was which was awesome, the day flowed so well," she said.
"We're just walking on cloud nine."
Ms Cook added that she was sure Liza "was smiling down on us."
"This is all in honour of her so I know she would have been proud."
Plans are already underway for next year's edition of the tournament, which officials are hoping will be even bigger and better.
