Students at St Joseph's Primary School, Trafalgar have said a very strong no to bullying.
The school community highlighted the national day of action against bullying and violence by encouraging the theme of this year's event - "growing connections."
The theme supports research findings that strong school community connections and social skills are protective factors in the prevention of bullying and help enable positive, help-seeking behaviours in students.
Everyone was encouraged to wear orange as a way of raising awareness of the issue and to say "No to Bullying." Through this message everyone can make a difference by standing up to the inappropriate behaviour.
Families were encouraged to have conversations with children and young people in their lives to further their understanding of the many different forms of bullying, range of responses to bullying and ways to prevent bullying. The more we talk about this issue, the more informed students are to stop it.
St Joseph's students are also focussing on healthy eating and living and combined the two important messages of eating well and no bullying by students eating oranges and wearing orange.
