Division two: Garfield lost to Warragul 61/92
Garfield visited Warragul and became the "loss" part of the mixed grill. They lost three rinks of the four they played and went down by 31-shots.
The team of Brad Fowler, Bob Lamport, Jasmine Fowler and skip Shane Oliver ran away at the beginning and maintained the lead all day for a 22/15 win.
Les Pumphrey, Geoff Pumphrey, John O'Shea and skip Joe Lenders were behind all day, winning only eight ends for the day. They lost 12/27.
The team consisting of Lexi Taylor, Gerry Fuller, Cheryl Breteler and skip Alan White started well but were pegged back to be seven-all at half-time. After that, their opponents took the game from them, with a final score of 12/26.
Stephen Whyte, skipping the team consisting of Ron Saunders, Henry Breteler and Gary Helmore, started well. They were up 7/3 after seven ends. From then on, however, they only won four ends for the remainder of the game, going down 15/24.
This result dropped them to fourth place on the ladder.
Division five: Garfield (2) drew Morwell (3) 54/54
Garfield played at home against Morwell, adding to the mixed grill with a 54-all draw.
The team of Keith Cooke, Les Dawes, Len Preece and skip Gwen Fabris had a roller-coaster ride for the first half of the game. They trailed by four shots after 14 ends. From then on, they only dropped one end, finishing up with a good 23/16 win.
Rick Sillett skipped the team of Frank Prins, Ken Place and David Piggin. They fought a titanic battle all day with their opponents, scoring 5 shots on the last end to grab the win by 17 shots to 16.
The team skipped by Brian Fox and consisting of Damian Brick, Gerry Wakefield and Steve Hyam were never in it from the beginning. They lost 14/22. However, when the chips were down on the last end of the day, they came through with the one shot necessary to snatch the overall draw from the jaws of defeat.
This result has the side maintain third position on the ladder.
Midweek
Garfield had a great result on Tuesday, winning all rinks and almost doubling the opposition's score, thus completing the mixed grill.
Division four: Garfield defeated Traralgon (4) 72/38
The team skipped by Gwen Fabris and consisting of Lexi Taylor, Trevor Peters and Bob Lamport led from the get go. They only allowed their opponents to score five times in the game, finishing with an impressive 33/13 win.
Alan White's team, consisting of Geoff Pumphrey, Cheryl Breteler and Gordon Moxey, started well with six shots on the board before their opponents opened their account. They continued on their way to a good final score of 24/12.
The team of Graeme Burton, John O'Shea and Helene Newton with skip Malcolm Newham fought tooth and nail. This was a game where there were never more than two shots between the teams, including four times when scores were level. One of those times was the penultimate end, which meant winner took all on the last. The Garfielders managed to pick up the familiar two shots, winning 15/13.
The side remains in second place on the ladder, trailing Traralgon RSL by only four points.
