Snap and solve app earns council award

Baw Baw Shire Council's community problem-solving app "Snap Send Solve" has won a state award.
Having achieved an overall "solve" rate of 94.2 per cent, Baw Baw was awarded the inclusive excellence award for Victoria at the Snap Send Solve's Solver of the Year Awards.
The award was presented to the council with the highest overall solve rate across two categories - pavement and footpath (damaged/general/overgrown vegetation) and accessibility.
Council statistics show 1666 local "snappers" sent 5256 "snaps" in Baw Baw last year.
Baw Baw Shire mayor Annemarie McCabe said the award demonstrated council's commitment to fixing and listening to issues that pop up across the shire.
"We take our commitment to community very seriously and our residents can rest assured that if they lodge a problem with council, we'll do our best to follow up and look into it," Cr McCabe said.
Snap Send Solve was described as an easy to use app available at your fingertips. It allows community members to report an issue on the go, without the need for a phone call or email.
Local residents are encouraged to snap a photo of any problems and send directly to council.
"I encourage our community to keep making the most of this app, as it provides a simple and straight forward way for our community to report problems and is another avenue for council officers to keep on-top of what's going on across the shire," Cr McCabe added.
