There comes a time in every footballer's career where their body betrays them, forcing them to hang up the boots one final time.
Well for those who might be wishing their glory days could go just that little bit longer, Warragul Industrials have the answer for you.
The Dusties have officially announced that they will be entering a team, calling themselves the 'Rusties', into the newly established AFL Masters West Gippsland competition.
Inspired by their recent success at the Bali Masters competition, the club is encouraging any and all over 35s to get get involved for a few social games, with plenty of post-game refreshments on offer.
Warragul Industrials president Shane Ingham said the club had been interested in getting a proper masters team up for some time now.
"We put it out there about 12 months ago and got plenty of interest but it got put on the backburner for a while," he said.
"After it was brought up in meetings this year, we thought we'd throw our hat in the ring."
The masters competition will feature modified rules to reduce the risk of injury, as well as only being played fortnightly rather than weekly to give aching bodies a rest.
Ingham said the masters would be a good way to keep some of the Dusties older heads involved at the club for longer.
"We've got plenty of guys around the club in that age bracket who still want to have a kick so this will be a really good opportunity to keep them around," he said.
Ingham also confirmed that he himself would be giving it a crack and pulling on the boots for the Rusties.
"I'm not sure what I'll be doing between that and running the club, but if I can get a kick I'll definitely be trying."
