Decades of service to veterans and their families was recognised for Trafalgar woman Lynese Goldie who received a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in the Australia Day honours.
Currently state secretary of the Returned and Service League Women's Council, a position she has held for 10 years, the award adds to the RSL's national certificate of merit with gold badge awarded to her in 2017.
Mrs Goldie had previously been a committee member and vice-president of the women's council over a four-year period.
During her time living in East Gippsland she gave outstanding volunteer service to the RSL sub-branches at Lakes Entrance and Nowa Nowa and to a number of community organisations.
At Lakes Entrance she held positions as president, vice-president, treasurer, secretary, delegate and committee member after joining in 1997.
Her voluntary community work extended to the Yallambee Village Aged Care, as president of the Catholic Women's League for two years, and to the Lakes Entrance Cancer Council Unit including four years as treasurer and to the Red Cross where she was secretary for four years.
