Man charged after string of attempted thefts

A Dandenong man has been charged in relation to a string of thefts in Warragul over one night in late December.
Travis Facett, 27, was arrested by Baw Baw CIU detectives on January 20 at his home.
He has been charged with multiple counts of attempted thefts and thefts from motor vehicles, theft of a vehicle, and charges in relation to the proceeds of crime.
Police allege Mr Facett was responsible for thefts from 16 vehicles, and the theft of one vehicle which was later located in Pakenham.
The majority of the items removed from vehicles during the alleged thefts have not been located.
Police allege the offending occurred on December 29, 2022.
Mr Facett appeared at Dandenong Magistrates' Court on January 20 when he was remanded to appear at Latrobe Valley Magistrates' Court on February 16.
While investigators said they were assisted by a witness who saw a social media post, they reminded community members the best way to report crimes or suspicious activity was through Crime Stoppers.
