Jail term for dangerous driving that killed cyclist

A P-plate driver who pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, causing the death of Drouin community identity Beryl Tyson, was sentenced to 14 months in jail.
Kyal Costello was 20-years-old when he failed to maintain "proper control" of his Toyota Hilux utility, leading to a collision with Ms Tyson who was riding her bicycle in Old Sale Rd at Drouin West in July 2021.
Ms Tyson, aged 79, died at the scene.
In the Melbourne County Court, Judge Trevor Wraight said Mr Costello's actions were at the lower end of offending but led to tragic consequences.
