Hawks find the answer
Wonthaggi's Jess McCrae defends the pass of Drouin's Ella Henderson in Saturday's A grade game.

Drouin netballers celebrated a come from behind A grade win when they hosted Wonthaggi at Drouin on Saturday.
Round four also produced a nine-goal win for the C grade team.
A grade: Drouin 44 defeated Wonthaggi 38
The Hawks found the answer this week against Wonthaggi. It was a frustrating game to watch - and probably to play too.
The girls worked as a team and kept up the intensity to the siren, coming back from being four goals down to win by four.
No matter who had the ball in attack, the defenders were there for a reset and kept up the talk. Some great defensive work by Kym Diston put pressure over every shot with April Bethune jumping in for the rebound.
In attack, Karina Healy kept her composure and even got a rebound. You've got to be in it to win it! A great effort all round.
Awards: Kym Diston and Karina Healy.
B grade: Drouin 39 lost to Wonthaggi 47
The Hawks had a physical and hard fought game, with many calls just not going their way. Anyone got a lucky token?
The defensive end had a workout, while the midcourt and shooters kept trying to find ways to move the ball down the court.
No player dropped their heads, but Wonthaggi walk away with the four points.
Awards: Deb Thomas and Jodie Proctor.
C grade: Drouin 33 defeated Wonthaggi 24
The Hawks were there to play and, simply put, just beat their opponents.
Some highlights included Bailey Flemming dominating in wing defence, Alice McKellar flying down the court in centre and Emily Dash ripping the ball into the goalers.
It was great to have Georgia Lightowler back in goals, and her steady hand (and body) was much appreciated by everyone except the opposition.
But in true C grade fashion, the team saved their best until last. Jess Murray, winner of many C grade best and fairest awards, hit the court for the first time in 2022, after her recovery from an ACL injury. Jess went into goal keeper for the second half, as a playing coach, and Wonthaggi didn't know what had hit them.
Awards: Alice McKellar and Georgia Lightowler.
17 and under: Drouin 31 lost to Wonthaggi 42
Drouin started the game strong but Wonthaggi were stronger and carried the ball down the court calmly.
The girls' speed and timing were a fabulous asset during the game against a solid Wonthaggi unit. Drouin held on, only being down by five goals at three-quarter time and managing some timely turnovers.
Converting them was not to be, and in the end the scoreline blew out a bit.
Awards: Kelly Mills and Kaylee Nalder.
15 and under: Drouin 18 lost to Wonthaggi 40
It was a challenging game for Drouin against as well oiled Wonthaggi team.
The Hawks got off to a slow start but by the second quarter were matching Wonthaggi goal-for-goal.
In the second half, the Hawks took their foot off the pedal and let Wonthaggi run away with it.
Some great combinations with Mia Trewin and Sienna Arbon in goals, Jamieson Thomas sped through the midcourt and led the attacking line with Zoe Curtis. The defence end got some amazing intercepts, but as a team couldn't hold on and convert.
Awards: Jamieson Thomas, Sienna Arbon and Leilani Lightowler.
13 and under: Drouin 18 lost to Wonthaggi 33
Even though they didn't get a win this week, it was another overall strong game for the little Hawks.
The girls showed their versatility, especially Emmerson Kneebone who played in three different positions and nailed every one.
The girls had amazing defensive pressure all the way down the court. Evie Piner worked hard in wing defence and created many turnovers opportunities for the team.
Awards: Emmerson Kneebone and Evie Piner.
