Additional appointments will be opened up at the Warragul COVID vaccination clinic to allow for 18 to 39-year-olds who can now receive the AstraZeneca vaccine.
From yesterday, the 18 to 39-year-old age group can access the AstraZeneca vaccine at any state-run vaccination centre including The Goods Shed in the Warragul Railway precinct.
Run by West Gippsland Healthcare Group, the clinic will have a senior registered immuniser on site to provide informed consent to 18 to 39-year-olds before they receive the vaccine.
Online bookings will be expanded based on the increased vaccine allocations.
The State Government announced on Friday it was expanding the availability of AstraZeneca to 18 to 39-year-olds in an effort to administer one million doses in the next five weeks.
WGHG chief executive officer Dan Weeks said demand for vaccinations increased last week.
The clinic vaccinated 793 people last week, about 200 more than previous weeks.
Mr Weeks said they were very pleased with the uptake from local people who were continuing to book and arrange to have the vaccination.
The Warragul vaccination clinic provides Pfizer and AstraZeneca vaccinations.
Community members must book via the Vaccination Hotline on 1800 675 398 or the website portal.cvms.vic.gov.au
Many medical clinics across West Gippsland also provide vaccinations.
