Trots club remembers Marj
Warragul Harness Racing Club life member Marj Evison passed away recently age 98.

The local trots scene is in mourning following the death of Warragul club legend Marjorie (Marj) Evison recently at age 98.
A longtime stalwart and advocate of Gippsland harness racing, Marj had been involved in the Warragul trots since the 1940s after a group of locals, including her late husband Eddie, put in countless hours to revive the sport in town.
Marj and her family as a whole have given a great amount to the local club, whether it be through fundraising, sponsorship or breeding and racing horses.
She rarely ever missed a local trots meet and was eventually named the first female life member of the Warragul Harness Racing Club, with her daughter Glenda eventually following in her footsteps as the second female life member.
Marj, Eddie, Glenda and Glenda's husband Norm Sherar are all life members of the club.
Since 1997 the family has sponsored the Eddie Evison Memorial Trot at Warragul - which still runs to this day.
A service was held at the Nielsen Funeral Chapel on Korumburra Rd, Warragul last Tuesday.
