Gardeners at the Community Garden in Eastern Park are busy getting ready for spring. They are planting seedlings for vegetables and herbs and have completed the winter pruning.
The gardeners meet each Tuesday in the garden from about 10am to 2pm and are looking for new participants.
No gardening experience is necessary but a sense of humour is welcomed.
Projects for spring include building new compost bins and burying exposed pipes, as well as the usual weeding and a social catch-up.
A special spring Saturday social morning will also be held on Saturday September 3 from 10am to 12pm, and gardeners who cannot attend on a Tuesday are particularly welcome. Those interested are invited to pop down for a cuppa and a chat, see what the garden is about and maybe even get their hands a little dirty.
