Elimination finals will be held in Mid Gippsland football this weekend, with Meeniyan hosting Saturday's finals and Fish Creek the host venue for Sunday's games.
Yinnar v Boolarra
Ladder position: 3rd v 6th.
Venue: Meeniyan at 2.20pm on Saturday.
Last time they met: Yinnar 11-12-78 defeated Boolarra 5-7-37 (round 11).
What the coaches said at the time:
Sam McCulloch (Yinnar):
"In what was a big day for the club with many of our past players and supporters on hand to watch, (it) was great to come away with the four points.
"We were expecting a tough game and that's exactly what we got. The game was quite a battle and took us until the last quarter to break away and record a good win."
Brendan Mason (Boolarra):
"After an arm wrestle in the first half, injuries again took their toll on our line-up with only one rotation available after quarter time.
"Our back six worked hard. To Yinnar's credit, they found a gear after half-time with their midfield particularly damaging in both their clearance work and in hitting the scoreboard.
"Inaccuracy cost us early, however, all credit goes to the home side who played the full four quarters at much closer to 100 per cent than we were able to."
What the coaches said this week:
Sam McCulloch:
"Glad to be heading into the finals with momentum and good form. Super excited for finals footy and can't wait to face Boolarra in what will be a big challenge which we are fit and ready for."
Brendan Mason:
"We look forward to taking on another local rival in Yinnar next week in what promises to be a great clash between two sides that have aspirations of a finals campaign that lasts longer than a single week."
MDU v Thorpdale
Ladder position: 4th v 5th
Venue: Fish Creek at 2.20pm on Sunday.
Last time they met: MDU 17-11-113 defeated Thorpdale 11-9-75 (round two).
What the coaches said at the time:
Rhett Kelly (MDU):
"I'm super proud of how the lads responded yesterday after a poor performance last week. The energy was up early in the first quarter and set us up for what I think was a great four-quarter game.
"We moved the footy really well and were able to get our hands on the footy at the stoppages; something we couldn't do the week before.
"Credit to Thorpdale, who really challenged us defensively and caught us out the back a few times and were able to score from it."
Daniel Taylor (Thorpdale):
"Disappointing as we couldn't get the game on our terms all day.
"We got beaten on the inside and comprehensively beaten on the outside by a fit and fast MDU side in hot conditions. We just couldn't go with them on the spread, we couldn't get any pressure on the ball carrier, which meant their forwards became a real handful."
What the coaches said this week:
Rhett Kelly:
"It feels like a lifetime ago that we played them back in round two. A lot has changed for both teams since then, and I'm expecting a solid game of footy.
"I also want to take this opportunity to thank our supporters for their commitment this year. Your presence, week in and week out, cheering us on at both the football ground and the netball courts, means the world to us. The games wouldn't be the same without you all there, and the playing group is incredibly thankful for your support. Let's keep the momentum going! Go Dees!
Daniel Taylor:
"After round 17, we took the opportunity to rest anyone who wasn't 100 per cent fit, which meant we weren't competitive (in round 18) unfortunately.
"It's never ideal heading into a finals campaign coming off an 80-point loss, but it is what it is. We've moved on and we will be a completely different team this week in our first final."
