A new culvert installed for Baw Baw Shire on Sheehan's Rd at Torwood has further added to the danger of the road, according to a regular user.
Phil Kincaid said the work had further narrowed the road's already minimal width and believes the problem will get worse if proposed safety barriers are added.
He said the shire missed an opportunity to install a longer pipe and widen the road by a few metres but believes there is no reason the culvert can't be extended a couple of metres on each side.
Mr Kincaid said the road had only opened a couple of weeks ago after being closed for a month while the work was done.
Trucks are frequent users serving the farming area and difficulties the narrowness of the road presents them is compounded by the overhanging tree canopy, he added.
Mr Kincaid said it was already almost impossible, without running off the side of the road, for trucks and even cars travelling in opposite directions to pass.
He said he was unaware of any flooding problems in that section of road, "the drains are dry 90 per cent of the time and work okay".
I'm bewildered, Mr Kincaid said, as he wondered about the plans.
There was no forward vision, it is 2022 not 1956, he stated.
