Police believe offenders and a vehicle they attempted to intercept at Dowton Park, Yarragon also were involved in burglaries at the Trafalgar recreation precinct on the same night.
After a spate of burglaries at local recreation facilities, police were undertaking patrols at recreation reserves when they observed a green Hyundai Excel near the Yarragon football club.
Police were patrolling in Hazeldean Rd at 1.08am on Wednesday morning when they saw the vehicle, which sped away from police.
Police could see two people in the vehicle, both wearing hoodies and masks.
After the vehicle failed to stop, police returned to the clubrooms where they found they had disrupted a potential burglary. A padlock to the switchboard had been cut and the power turned off and a padlock and securing chain around entry doors to clubrooms also was cut.
About half an hour earlier, offenders forced entry to the cricket club, boxing gym and Lions Club shed at the Trafalgar recreation precinct.
Offenders stole alcohol and caused damage inside the buildings.
Security footage captured images of three men.
One man is described as 177 centimetres tall, solid build, wearing grey Adidas hoodie, grey tracksuit pants with black stripes and white logos down stripe, grey/black and white runners and a face mask.
The second man is described as 177 centimetres tall, medium build and wearing a hooded jumper with navy blue and grey top, black Adidas tracksuit pants, black shoes with white soles and a black face mask.
