Dusties double delight
It was double delight for the Warragul Industrials junior girls on Sunday after both their under 16s and under 18s defeated Nar Nar Goon.
Under 16s
In what was a fierce, hard-fought contest from the opening bounce to the final siren, the Dusties eventually prevailed 3.8 (26) to 2.6 (18).
It was a hot day on the vast expanses of the Nar Nar Goon Recreation Reserve, pushing every players' endurance and resilience to the limit.
Scores were locked up heading into a tense final quarter before the visitors dug deep, surging ahead for a gritty eight-point win built on relentless pressure and intensity across the four quarterss.
Newly appointed coach Paul Jameson commended his side's outstanding work rate, composure, and polished skills as major contributors to the win.
Milla Dent was the standout performer for the match and was awarded the Anzac Day Medal for her efforts.
Jade Fitzgerald, Stella Reynolds, Lucy Bates, Taya Watson and Alisha Jamieson were all strong.
Under 18s
Warragul Industrials' round three clash proved to be a one-sided affair as the visitors took home a clinical victory 9.7 (61) to 0.1 (1).
The tone was set early for the Dusties in their very first play when a textbook tap from ruck Pallas Jackman-Riches got them off and running. An early drive from Molly Boulter out of the centre led to a goal inside the first minute, finished by Makayla Sowden.
The Dusties' tireless forward half pressure saw them pile on three quick goals in the opening minutes to help eventually give them a 39-point lead at quarter time.
Some positional changes in the second quarter gave different players opportunities inside 50 as the visitors' midfield transitioned the ball well throughout the day.
Nar Nar Goon showed resilience for their part, with their defence and midfield pushing forward late in the third quarter.
While the final score finished at a 60-point deficit due to Female Football Gippsland's mercy rule, the Dusties would go on to kick 15.10 (100) by the final siren.
Molly Boulter, Indi Olsson, Makayla Sowden, Addison Moore, Gypsy Quaife and Pallas Jackman-Riches were named in their best.
The Warragul Industrials under 16s host Wonthaggi this Sunday at 1pm while for the under 18s it's a trip away to play Inverloch-Kongwak at 12pm the same day.
