Community members are being encouraged to bring forward their second Pfizer vaccinations.
With Victoria having hit its 80 per cent first dose target and the Federal Government providing assurances on forward vaccine supply, Premier Daniel Andrews announced the state was now able to shorten the interval between Pfizer doses to three weeks.
Anyone who has received their first dose of Pfizer will be able to bring forward their second dose, if they choose, to a three week interval.
Changes in the vaccine booking system were effective yesterday to enable people to make a second dose booking from three weeks after they had their first dose.
West Gippsland Healthcare Group chief executive officer Dan Weeks said anyone who already had a second dose appointment booked at The Goods Shed clinic should contact the booking hotline if they want to bring forward their appointment.
For the past three weeks, The Goods Shed state vaccination clinic has averaged about 1400 vaccinations a week.
The clinic is now open Tuesdays to Fridays 8.30am to 3.30pm and Saturdays 9am to noon.
Vaccination appointments also are available through many West Gippsland medical clinics and pharmacies.
