A public information session on why you should consider establishing a power of attorney, will and medical treatment directive will be held tomorrow morning as part of Law Week.
The session has been organised by the Royal Victorian Association of Honorary Justices' (RVAHJ) new Warragul branch and will run from 10am to 11:30am.
RVAHJ is the peak representative body for JPs and bail justices in Victoria.
Wednesday's session will cover various information, including how to obtain guidance in the preparation of power of attorney, will and medical treatment directive and what is involved in getting a signature witnessed.
There will be no official presentation, instead people are welcome to drop in and ask questions.
Sessions like this are important as often people do not set up the revelant documents until the need for them becomes obvious, organisers say. And often, then "it is too late."
Those unable to attend the session are welcome to attend the Warragul Library between 10am and 2pm Monday to Friday to talk to the on duty Justice of the Peace.
So far, the local JPs have signed more than 5000 documents in 2023.
