After four days of rain, the weather gods smiled on the runners who were taking part in the Mount Worth Trail Run.
It was a crisp and clear morning for the event on Sunday May 16, however there was still plenty of mud which the runners enjoyed.
The event had to be cancelled last year due to COVID-19 restrictions, so runners were glad to be back on deck and competing in three events, the 22km, 16km and 6km runs.
Covering three sections of Mount Worth State Park, the six-kilometre run provided a great introduction for people new to trail running, while the 16 and 22km events were for experienced runners. The medals presented carried ribbons for both 2020 and 2021 as a reminder of an unusual year faced in 2020.
The day was supported by the Baw Baw Shire and Bendigo Bank Drouin and District Community Bank.
There are plans to hold the event again next year, with all proceeds going to the Friends of Mount Worth to help maintain walking tracks in the park.
Competitor Jacqui Shannon was extremely happy with how the event went and that she was able to compete this year.
“A fantastic event and such a great place to run,” she said.
