Special awards made to two members was a highlight of the Warragul Lions Club changeover dinner.
Past president Tom Nunan was made a life member and Chris Kennedy received a prestigious Melvyn Jones Fellowship.
But a sadder note was the disbandment of Warragul Lioness Club that had served the community for more than 40 years.
Despite still being an active club with 13 members Lioness Clubs worldwide were directed to close by Lions International.
Each of the members at the changeover dinner were thanked for their service with the presentation of floral tributes.
President Michael Stephenson said although a significant part of the year was under lockdown the club still raised sufficient funds to support many worthwhile causes.
Among them and in conjunction with the Australian Lions Foundation was a $40,000 donation to buy vital equipment for the West Gippsland Hospital.
Zone 5 chairman Geoff Anderson conducted the installation of the new executive and board of directors.
Michael Stephenson is president, Ian Inglis secretary, Chris Kennedy treasurer, Russell Elliott, Terry Hayler and Simon Rabl vice-presidents, Brian Grist will be in charge of membership and Ross Gaff the lion tamer with Evan Roberts, Jeff Tolley, Graeme Hinckley, John White an immediate past president Tom Nunan as directors.
