A Warragul site has been deemed unsuitable for a new kindergarten development.
In its quarterly capital works update, Baw Baw Shire detailed investigations for a new kindergarten at a "greenfield" site in King St.
However, following a risk analysis and appointment of an architect to prepare concept designs, the proposal has been scrapped.
The report noted the site was "not deemed feasible for the construction of a kindergarten" and alternative sites are now being explored.
Baw Baw Shire strategy and organisational performance director Cohen Van der Velde confirmed council had received $150,000 funding for kindergarten infrastructure planning from the state government last year.
"The purpose of this funding is to address the current and future demand for kindergarten places in the Warragul area," Mr Van der Velde said.
"Of this $150,000 in funding, $50,000 was for the upgrade of Grace Berglund kindergarten and $100,000 was allocated to planning and investigating a suitable 'greenfield' or similar kindergarten site in Warragul," he added.
With the King St site off the table, Mr Van der Velde did not release which alternative sites were being explored, noting feasibility and de-risking works would be undertaken across all potential sites before being considered by council.
