Warragul Blues player Xanthe Dalton will be representing Victoria for the second year in a row after being selected for the state's School Sport Australia 12 and under girls football championship team.
Xanthe, 11, will be shipping out on her birthday with the rest of the team for the beginning of the tournament on August 4 in Geelong, where she will take on some of the best young players in the country.
It's another big step for Xanthe, who was a part of the victorious team in last year's competition in Albury and said she is "very excited" to be doing it again.
Xanthe said this year she hopes to win a captaincy role as well as win the championships a second time.
"(I want to) use my voice a lot more because last year I was very shy and this year I've got a lot more confidence in how I can play," she said.
She added that thanks to her experience last year she now knows "how to control my nerves and how to play and what to expect."
Xanthe's selection also comes as she hit a big milestone recently when she became the first player in the West Gippsland Junior Football Competition to reach 100 games.
It's been a long time coming for her after joined the Blues in the then-fledgling West Gippsland competition in 2021.
Since then, she's missed just one game on her way to the milestone, becoming a multi-premiership winner along the way.
Xanthe said she's had her eye on the milestone since "the start of the season knowing that I would reach it."
Her favourite memories from her 100 games include winning both the under 12s and under 14s premierships last year and a game earlier this year against Drouin where she helped her side lift to a win after being down early.
She said that she loves "kicking goals" and "just getting out there and doing what I love."
