Disposing your festive waste

Possibly the biggest downside after a big family Christmas Day together is the cleaning up.
And what to do with the lunch leftovers is usually not the problem; they're generally on the menus for the next few days.
For many it's the piles of cardboard boxes and wrapping paper left after the presents are opened that have to be disposed of.
The recycling bin can only hold so much, there are many other things that also need to go into that bin and the next collection could be up to a fortnight away.
Cardinia Shire council is giving residents a chance to ease the burden of getting rid of post-Christmas Day rubbish by offering a free drop off for clean and dry cardboard and wrapping paper at its Future Recycling Transfer Station in Exchange Drive, Pakenham, starting from December 28.
A photo ID with a Cardinia Shire address will need to be presented when dropping off the items.
The transfer station will be open for the Christmas packaging leftovers on December 28, 29 and 30 and January 4, 5 and 6 from 8am and close at 4pm on the Thursdays and Fridays and 2.30pm on the two Saturdays.
