Donate food at the kiosk

Get a free photo with Santa, enjoy a sausage sizzle and donate food to a local family in need at the Palmerston St kiosk in Warragul this Saturday.
Baw Baw Food Relief will be accepting non-perishable Christmas food items from 10am to 1pm.
Committee secretary Jan Morton said this year's Christmas food appeal was more important than ever as need grew amidst the rising cost of living.
The goal of the appeal is simple: "ensure no one in our community feels forgotten during a season meant for warmth and togetherness."
"Christmas is fast approaching - a time when many of us begin planning festive meals, family gatherings and special traditions," Ms Morton said. "But, for many local families, this season brings a very different kind of pressure. Instead of choosing gifts or organising celebrations, some are quietly wondering how they will afford a simple Christmas meal."
Without support, she fears many households would miss out.
Ms Morton said the centre currently assisted about 40 families per day including young people in their late teens and early 20s with no financial support, parents trying to stretch every dollar and older residents who couldn't make ends meet.
As Christmas approaches, demand will increase sharply. In December, the team often assist 50 or more families per day.
It coincides with Foodbank Victoria and major supermarkets facing reduced stock levels due to statewide demand.
For those who are able, Baw Baw Food Relief urges non-perishable food donations at the kiosk on Saturday. Volunteers will accept donations from 10am and 2pm, with Warragul Lions Club also in attendance to run a sausage sizzle.
Children can enjoy a free photo with Santa. He will be joined by the Christmas Fairy and a busy Elf to meet local families.
If you are unable to attend on Saturday but wish to donate, visit Baw Baw Food Relief at 6/11 Pearse St, Warragul on weekdays between 10am and 2pm.
The neighbouring op shop is also worth a visit, currently filled with Christmas decorations and gifts for stockings.
