Ditch the pink for IWD

Gippsland Women's Health is urging organisations to do more than put pink icing on cupcakes on International Women's Day tomorrow.
The organisation is urging organisations to exchange "pink-washing" activities like morning teas or free cupcakes for committing to real actions to achieve gender equality.
According to GWH, a national survey revealed almost seven in 10 women don't feel represented at Australian IWD events or in the media.
Of these women, four in five were women of colour, 75 per cent were people with a disability, 79 per cent were culturally and linguistically diverse women and 79 per cent were LGBTQIA+ people.
The United Nations' theme for this year's IWD is DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality, which highlights women and girls who are championing the advancement of transformative technology and digital education.
This year Women in Gippsland and Baw Baw Shire are again hosting an International Women's Day Event at the West Gippsland Arts Centre on Thursday.
This year's special guest is musician, actor, author, and broadcaster Clare Bowditch, who will encourage people to count themselves in.
Ms Bowditch will be supported by a panel of inspiring local women.
The event will begin in the West Gippsland Arts Centre forecourt at 5pm, with music, market stalls, food trucks and entertainment before the main event at 7pm.
Tickets are available at https://sales.wgac.com.au/
