Members of Warragul Police Station hosted 'Coffee with a Cop' at Bunnings Warehouse last month.
The initiative was intended to help community members connect with their local police in a relaxed environment while enjoying a coffee.
Community members were invited to swing by and take the opportunity to ask questions or voice concerns.
Police were providing information about home and farm security and giving out free farm gate 'Private Property' signs.
Members spent time chatting with locals and had pamphlets on hand for those looking for additional information. Items such as Victoria Police keyring torches and farm security checklists were also being handed out.
Some members remained at the location for some time, while others dropped in for a coffee and a chat at intervals throughout the day.
Leading Senior Constable Paula Fowler said the initiative was a good opportunity for people to get information about how to keep their farms and homes safe.
She said it was also great for connecting with little kids, who may be afraid or nervous around police. There were even police-themed activity books on hand to keep younger children entertained.
"It's an opportunity to get out and listen to people's issues and concerns, so that they feel heard," Const Fowler said.
