Community planting day completes restoration

Friends of Drouin's Trees will be hosting a community planting day at Drouin's Golden Whistler Reserve this Saturday.
From 9:30am, 1000 shrubs, trees and tube stock will be planted at the reserve, which is located in McGlone Rd opposite the golf club.
The day is the final stage of the group's restoration project of the area.
They've encouraged anyone and everyone to put on some old clothes, head down to the reserve and help out with the planting.
There will be a sausage sizzle and water provided, as well as an official opening of the new-look reserve at 11:30am.
Friends of Drouin's Trees member Judy Farmer said the day would be a "culmination" of the group's hard work.
"It's been a lot of hard work so this will be a real cause for celebration."
Over the past few years, the reserve has undergone a significant transformation thanks to the group's efforts.
The group has secured grants from council to assist the project including renaming the reserve, weeding dead and harmful plants and installing state-of-the-art thermal nest boxes for the wildlife among others.
Ms Farmer said members of the community were "very much invited to come" to see the final stage of the reserve's transformation.
