Big turnout for Camera Club National Exhibition

Hundreds of people visited the Warragul Camera Club’s 48th National exhibition held at the West Gippsland Arts Centre last weekend.
A total of 1100 entries were submitted, with 352 accepted and on display.
At the presentation of awards on Sunday afternoon president Bruce Langdon said the club was pleased to hold the event after it was cancelled last year because of COVID-19.
He thanked the many sponsors who had supported the event.
West Gippsland Arts Centre manager Rob Robson congratulated the club on its exhibition.
He said it was good to see the club return to the arts centre for the display.
He said he was impressed with the quality of photographs on show.
“These days everyone has a camera and can take pictures, but few take talented shots.
“The photographs downstairs combine enormous technical skill with a sense of photographic eye,” he said.
The most outstanding image of the competition was won by Susan Sventek of Garfield with “Handle With Care.” She also won the best print image with the same entry. She received a perpetual shield presented by Elaine Berryman.
Best digital image was won by Emma Fleetwood of Glandore SA with “A Single Shot”. Emma also won most successful digital exhibitor.
Most successful print exhibitor was won by David Smith.
Most successful Warragul Camera Club exhibitor was won by David Woodcock of Neerim East. Most successful camera club first time exhibitor was won by Michael Moore of Warragul.
The special club award for most print acceptances went to Frankston Camera Club.
Still life digital was won by Christine Reich of Highton, after dark digital was won by Emma Fleetwood, creative digital was won by Kym Houston of Lara, architecture digital was won by Yvonne Moule of Forster, New South Wales.
Nature digital was won by Emma Fleetwood.
Open monochrome prints was won by Susan Sventek of Garfield, open colour prints was won by Melissa Hansen of Clayton South, animal prints was won by David Smith of Lower Mitchum, SA, landscape prints was won by David Woodcock, social documentary prints was won by Margaret Edwards of Murrumbeena, portrait prints was won by Barry Feldman of Geelong, rural Australia prints was won by Max Lane of Mornington and large prints was won by David Smith.
The secondary schools’ digital section was won by Warragul Regional College student Ella Bingham.
Gazette editor Carolyn Turner presented prizes to winners of the small print competition.
First place was won by Brett Morris for “A Night in London”. Second place was won by Feaghus Browne for “Adrenalin Rush and third place went to Beth McKeown with “My Girl.”
