Local artists are being sought by the Baw Baw Shire Council to contribute to new public art installations.
As part of the council's outdoor activations program, three new locations for public art have been selected for a Brighten up Baw Baw mural project.
The locations for the installations are 15 Napier Street and 13 Palmerston Street in Warragul and the Yarragon public toilet block on the Princes Way median strip.
The Napier St mural will be painted on the exterior of the Herd Coworking building and Palmerston St's mural will be located in the laneway between Priceline Pharmacy and The Grange cafe. Themes being considered for these locations are local fauna and flora and local cultural imagery and will be colourful, eye-catching, vibrant, and modern.
The mural in Yarragon will be on the three walls of the toilet block not facing the freeway. The themes being considered for this location include the surrounding landscape, coffee, art, dogs, and shopping. The mural will tell a story about Yarragon's past, present, or future.
Submissions will be reviewed by a sub committee of the council's arts and culture advisory committee between July 4 and 8, and successful artists will be required to complete their work by August 31.
Artists are invited to make expressions of interest until Sunday, July 3 through an online form on the Baw Baw Shire website. A full list of submission criteria is also online.
