Warragul Salvation Army is urging the community to get involved in this year's Red Shield Appeal.
Funds raised locally will stay local to support community services and programs in the area.
Now in its 59th year, the appeal will run until June, but the national door knock occurred on May 20 and 21.
"We don't want anybody in our local and outlying communities to struggle alone- times are tough, but we can get through it together, with the community support", said Major Jenni Frost of Warragul Salvation Army.
"Warragul and Drouin are generous and supportive communities- and we know this year will be no different as people do their bit to help their neighbour".
Australia is in the middle of a social crisis right now with the rising cost of living and inflation of prices, thousands of Australians are under pressure to make ends meet.
Government research shows more than 3.3 million people are living in poverty.
The Red Shield Appeal provides much needed assistance and help to those Australians doing it tough right now.
