Buses will replace trains on the Gippsland and Pakenham lines starting tomorrow (Wednesday, July 27).
Passengers are warned to allow for an extra 60 minutes for their journey over the next 12 days, as major upgrades take place at several locations.
The Department of Transported says coaches will replace all Gippsland line trains for the entire journey between Southern Cross, Traralgon and Bairnsdale from the first service tomorrow to the last service on Sunday, August 7.
While trains are not operating, construction continues on foundations for the new rail bridge in Kilmany and crews will undertake important maintenance and signalling works, and progress station upgrades including building a new overpass at Traralgon as part of the Gippsland Line Upgrade, the department stated.
The level crossings on McGregor Rd, Main St and Racecourse Rd in Pakenham will be removed by building a rail bridge over the roads. Passengers are encouraged to visit ptv.vic.gov.au/disruptions for more information and to plan their journey.
