An IT (information technology) overhaul will significantly boost cyber security at a cost of $2.27 million.
Council reported its current IT system, last upgraded in 2014, was at the end of its life and a different version was required.
Cloud-based, the new core system will improve efficiencies for staff working remotely.
Chief executive officer Mark Dupe said improved security was another major consideration in the decision.
"Cyber risk is a key area we are focused on," Mr Dupe said.
Ratepayers are also expected to benefit with improved software allowing more friendly interface with council online whilst meeting demand for after-hours access.
The $2.27 million core system replacement is listed in council's capital works projects as part of a $4 million investment in plant and equipment.
