This year’s Geoff Watt Fun Run has been hailed a success with many entrants taking up the challenge to take part in various places because of COVID-19 restrictions.

Event organiser Kathy Watt thanked everyone who took part in the virtual event, including some internationally.

In the men’s half marathon, Zackary Beasley topped the field finishing the 21km event in 1:19:07. Peter Cutler finished just nine seconds behind to take second from Nick Pratt who finished with a 1:26:00 in third place.

The women’s half marathon event saw Breanne Kunstler top the timetable with a 1:32:10, followed by Bryanna Mifsud’s 1:51:01 and Kay Arrowsmith with a time of 1:51:08. 

The 10km event saw Stephen Rae finish in first place with a blistering time of 35:54, followed by Paul Pratt’s 38:29 and Lewis Ward with a 48:21. In the women’s 10km, Molly Irvine claimed the top spot with a finishing time of 44:46, with Michelle Worth finishing second in 49:31, followed by Jessie Wyatt with a 54:13.

There have been plenty of pictures posted as runners took up the opportunity to get creative on their run and walks, taking their dogs, or dressing up in costumes to commemorate the event with prizes on offer for the different categories.

Many former athletes joined in with Steve Moneghetti, Debbie Flintoff-King and Derek Clayton all logging various times.
