United undone away from home

Gippsland United's senior and reserve men travelled to Casey Comets on Saturday night for an away fixture under lights.
With Casey still in the relegation zone, the home side had plenty to play for, while recent results had seen Gippsland's promotion hopes disappear.
The Gippsland senior men started strong, creating numerous chances and testing the Casey goalkeeper on several occasions. Despite plenty of attacking opportunities, Gippsland were unable to find the back of the net, with the goalkeeper and Casey defenders repeatedly denying them.
Casey made the most of long balls forward to the speedy Kamjoseph Ismail, who proved difficult for the Gippsland defence to contain and went on to score a hat-trick.
United went into half-time trailing 3-0. After the break, some good build-up play resulted in a through ball from Levi Colantuono, allowing Bayden Heusmann to pull one back for Gippsland.
Casey responded shortly afterwards, however, adding a fourth goal to finish the match 4-1.
United will face Berwick City at home this Saturday in the final round of their season.

Reserve men
In the reserves, Gippsland went down 3-1, with Julian Colantuono scoring the club's only goal with a superb free kick.
A number of under 16 and under 18 players have been given valuable game time in the reserves, highlighting the strength of the club's pathway into senior football.
Boys Youth State League
The Boys Youth State League teams hosted Ringwood City FC at Ronald Reserve, Morwell, on the weekend.
Under 18s
The under 18s produced a dominant performance, scoring twice in the first half before adding another three after the break.
Ringwood managed a late consolation goal, but Gippsland secured an impressive 5-1 victory. Goals came from Sam Darby, Patrick Frayne, Mitchell Dastey and Wilton Groom, who scored twice.
Under 16s
The under 16s played out a close and physical contest, with several yellow cards issued during the match.
The game could have gone either way, but Avan Macdonald found the back of the net for Gippsland to secure a 1-0 victory.
Under 15s
It was a difficult day for the under 15s, with Ringwood coming out firing and scoring six goals.
Beliu Belieu scored for Gippsland, but the Gippsland boys were unable to match an impressive Ringwood outfit, going down 6-1.
Under 14s
Gippsland's under 14s enjoyed the majority of possession and created much of the attacking play.
Jayden Ryan put Gippsland ahead, but Ringwood found an equaliser. Neither side could find a winner, with the match finishing 1-1 and the points shared.
Under 13s
The under 13s produced an impressive performance from start to finish.
Yanni Hortis opened the scoring with a well taken goal before Riley Nankervis added another shortly afterwards to give Gippsland a 2-0 half time lead.
Gippsland continued to impress after the break, creating numerous opportunities and testing the Ringwood goalkeeper, who made several good saves.
Archer Riess finished clinically to make it 3-0 before Billy Breheny added a superb fourth goal to complete a convincing 4-0 victory.
Metro Development Squads
Under 10 boys
In our last away game of the season, and where the Gippsland boys were definitely not at their best, Cleeland United came out all guns blazing and played some really nice football.
Having said that, Gippsland, as always, showed their usual resolute defensive display to keep the score at only 1-0.
Cleeland scored early in the first half, and had it not been for their goalkeeper putting on an outstanding display and seemingly saving everything (including a very well hit Harvey Kerrigan penalty), things might have been very different.
The second half brought much of the same, with plenty of opportunities and shots on goal.
Absolutely nothing wanted to find its way into the back of the net, most notably a stunning effort from Alex Ballie that rifled into the crossbar.
After having a penalty saved and showing a lot of nerves, Harvey Kerrigan played the second half in goal and was absolutely outstanding saving everything that came his way - a truly remarkable performance.
Leo Coster also had one of his best games of the season, standing on the ball and making tackle after tackle and clearing his lines amazingly.
Although the boys were defeated, there were still plenty of positives to take out of this game.
Under 11 mixed
The under 11s played an away game and lost against Doveton SC.
Under 12 boys
The under 12s played away against Doveton, bringing home an impressive 12-0 victory.
Under 13 girls
In their last match for the season, the under 13 girls played Mount Martha in a home game at Baxter Park.
Missing their coach Ruby Reidy who was away playing in an under 15s match and eager to make her proud, the under 13s were intent on showcasing the skills and knowledge she had instilled in them throughout the season - and boy did they do that.
They exploded into the match full of energy and with a level of hunger and drive not seen from them before, with one of the team's leading goal scorers, Libby Blake, opening the scoring early in the game.
The goals continued to come from across the team, with Sophia Baldwin starting a run from inside her own half, driving past defence and finishing with a great solo goal.
Ivy Sandy then added another to the scoreboard shortly before half time, giving the team a 3-0 lead at the break.
Pumped and raring to go, the girls kept up a high level of intensity and unbreakable defence in the second half.
With players from both teams packed around the ball, Billie Wedrowicz managed to find a gap and send it through the crowd of players and into the net. The team finished one of their best games of the season with a 4-1 victory, a celebratory dance and a phone call to their coach to share their good news.
Under 15 girls
The under 15s travelled to play Seaford United and dominated the match in a 8-1 victory.
