Second fire at milk factory site
A suspicious structure fire broke out at the old milk factory in Warragul last Tuesday.
It was the second fire at the derelict site in four months, this time taking place in the small building at the back of the factory.
CFA units responded to a report received at 4:53pm on Tuesday, with four trucks attending via Gladstone St.
The fire was contained in a motor vehicle, parked within the abandoned shed on the property.
There were a number of vehicles in the structure, 10 of which were damaged by the flames.
Acting quickly, firefighting personnel deemed it under control by 5:05pm, with the scene declared safe shortly after, at 5:14pm.
Investigating police are treating the fire as suspicious.
Investigators were told three youths were seen fleeing the scene shortly before emergency services arrived. The investigation remains ongoing.
Police also investigated a suspicious fire at the factory in April. On that occasion, it was alleged old railway sleepers in a building at the back of the factory were set alight.
Police urge anyone who witnessed the incident, has dash cam or CCTV footage or anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333000 or submit an online confidential report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
