Today may not feel like the start of summer but the date signals the opening of Baw Baw Shire Council’s seasonal outdoor pools.
Pools in Drouin, Neerim South, Rawson, Thorpdale and Trafalgar will be open until March 31.
There will be safety measures in place for all visitors, including temperature checks, contact tracing and social distancing
The pools will be open when the temperature is forecast to reach or exceed 25 degrees, with the opening days to be determined at 5pm for the following day using the Warragul forecast provided by the Bureau of Meteorology.
Pools may close before or during thunderstorm activity, or in extreme weather conditions. They will also be shut on both Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
Managed by the YMCA, the summer will also feature events such as a family fun day, inflatable sessions and an Australia Day party, all however will be subject to COVID-19 restrictions at the time.
YMCA Baw Baw Manager Sarah Hadjialexiou said she hopes to see plenty of families enjoying the pools during the warmer months.
“After what has been a trying year for all, we encourage the community to join us for a splash this summer. The pools are great places to spend warm days relaxing and cooling off with the family,” she said.
Entry to the Drouin, Neerim South, Rawson, Thorpdale and Trafalgar pools are $5.60 for casual, $3.50 for concession/child and $15.20 for a family.
Prices at Warragul differ, with access to all pools at the facility coming under the cost.
