NBN upgrades for several Baw Baw Shire areas

Trafalgar, Thorpdale, Willow Grove and Narracan areas will have their nbn fixed wireless networks upgraded in the near future.
Work is expected to start in the next few weeks on towers servicing those areas installing 4G technology and software enhancements and introducing 5G mmWave technology to extend coverage, minimise network congestion and give access to faster services.
Head of nbn Victoria and Tasmania Emily Peel said there would be some planned outages ranging from a few minutes to 12 hours over a two-week period while the upgrades were being done.
While impacted homes and businesses should expect advice of the outages from their retail service provider Ms Peel said they should ensure they have back-up connectivity on hand such as a mobile phone.
People may need to update their nbn connection box that receives the fixed wireless signals will be contacted by their internet provider.
Ms Peel said that to minimise disruption tower upgrade works will generally be undertaken between 10pm and 10am on weekdays and, where necessary, between 6am and 6pm on weekends.
The work is part of the nbn fixed wireless network extending its reach and capability much deeper in rural and regional areas.
