Stop sticks deployed in Yarragon

Police deployed stop sticks to stop a vehicle pursuit in Yarragon last weekend.
A 41-year-old man, of no fixed address, has since been interviewed and charged with theft of a car, assaulting police with a motor vehicle and resisting arrest.
The pursuit occurred on Friday, December 12 at 9pm.

It is alleged the man was earlier involved in a family violence incident outside Traralgon Police Station during which he stole a white Ford Raptor.
The stolen vehicle was tracked to Yarragon where police deployed stop sticks at two locations.
Police said the vehicle drove around stop sticks on Yarragon South Rd before the driver was corralled into a nearby no through road. Deployed a second time, the stop sticks deflated a front wheel.
They said the driver continued driving until confronted by a police vehicle in Rollo St. It is alleged the back of this Toyota Hilux police vehicle was hit.
After exiting the stolen vehicle, police allege the man became aggressive. Capsicum spray was used during his arrest.
