Genevieve Duck, a year 12 student at St Paul's Anglican Grammar School, is contributing to a good cause by having their hair shaved for the Leukaemia Foundation's World's Greatest Shave, which raises much-needed funds and awareness for families affected by blood cancer.
Genevieve believes educating the community about leukaemia is important and set a fundraising goal of $2000 to support research to find a cure.
Genevieve was inspired to support the Leukaemia Foundation by their brother and sister, both of whom had previously participated in the World's Greatest Shave.
Genevieve promoted the cause on social media and is enjoying the experience, with their favourite moment being the time they have spent with friends shaving their hair to a number three length.
Genevieve was grateful for teachers' support in the World's Greatest Shave. "Ms Powell told the whole cohort at mentor groups and assemblies, so everyone knew about it. And students told me it looked good after I did it, which was nice."
Staff and students from St Paul's have also left encouraging comments on Genevieve's World's Greatest Shave profile in support of their goal.
Genevieve has already raised more than $1730 for the cause. To help contribute, visit https://secure.leukaemiafoundation.org.au/registrant/FundraisingPage.aspx?RegistrationID=866754
