Family focus for carols

A fun night for the entire family is on offer when the Neerim District Community Carols by Candlelight returns on Friday, December 22.
Featuring Santa, a fireworks finale, the popular Neerim Wiggles and MC Matt Cumming back by popular demand, the community event has a strong family focus.
Co-organiser Christie Bransgrove said an addition to this year's event was a Christmas market running from 3pm to 6pm at the Algie Hall.
"Come and enjoy last minute Christmas shopping at the market," she said.
With the town and district growing and new residents moving in, this year's event is a great opportunity to bring the community together for a relaxed and fun night just three days out from Christmas.
After two years of COVID cancellations and last year's carols moved indoors due to weather, Ms Bransgrove said "we're really hoping for good weather".
If the weather cooperates, the carols will be held on the Neerim South Primary School oval, with entry via the recreation reserve.
Following the Christmas market, the night will kick off a performance by DJ Santa from 6pm.
An expanded range of food trucks, the Lions barbecue and a coffee van will be available to feed the masses.
The carols program starts at 7.30pm, with a range of artists to perform including Warragul Theatre Company and Neerim District Secondary College musical groups.
The very popular Neerim Wiggles can't be missed, nor can the laughs from MC Matt Cumming.
The exciting night will peak with the fireworks finale at about 9.15pm.
In the event of inclement weather, any venue change will be advertised on the "Neerim Community Celebrations" Facebook page.
