Voices for Monash, a group of politically motivated people that backed an independent candidate at the last federal election, has signalled its intention to stand a candidate at the next election.
While not a registered political with the Australian Electoral Commission, the group was founded in 2021 ahead of the last federal election, by residents concerned about "climate change, integrity and equality."
With the recent resignation of federal Member for Monash Russell Broadbent from the Liberal Party, Voices for Monash has confirmed its intentions to support an independent candidate and said it was "presently strategising for a large community push" during the next year.
The next Federal election is due in 2025.
Deb Leonard, who stood in Monash as an independent candidate backed by V4M in 2022, said it was time the electorate received the funding for housing, infrastructure and health services it needs.
The group will have a get together at San Remo on December 13 to hear from Dennis Ginnivan, who was involved in the formation of Voices for Indi that supported independent candidate Cathy McGowan being elected in Indi in 2013 and again in 2016.
