Five State Opposition Members of Parliament, including Member for Narracan Gary Blackwood and Member for Eastern Victoria Melina Bath, will pay $100 each for a photograph with former AFL player and coach Kevin Sheedy for their family albums.
The group members, except for Mr Sheedy, were each fined $100 for having the photograph taken at Parliament House with none wearing the required face mask as a protection against possible spread of COVID.
Others in the photo were Opposition Leader Matthew Guy, Nationals leader Peter Walsh and shadow treasurer David Davis.
But they are not the first MPs to be caught out by the mask rule; Premier Daniel Andrews was fined last year after arriving at a media conference without sporting a mask.
Mr Blackwood said Mr Sheedy escaped penalty because he was speaking at a function (masks aren't required at Parliament House when speaking).
Saying "rules are rules even if we don't agree with them", Mr Blackwood used the penalty as an opportunity to take a bit of a swipe at the other side of state politics.
He told The Gazette he "was happy to pay the $100 from his own pocket, unlike Labor who used taxpayers to fund their Red Shirts Rort".
Ms Bath said that as of late last week she had not had any contact from police or received a notice of a fine but was always co-operative with police.
She said she'd pay any fine from her own resources and also donate an equivalent amount to one of her favourite charities, the Sale-based "Better Life for Foster Kids".
