Make connections, try new things and enjoy fun activities when the Bunyip Christmas Carnival is held on Sunday.
Held at the Bunyip Recreation Reserve in conjunction with the Bunyip Community Market, co-organiser Kristy Neilson said this year's carnival would offer live music, face painting, tennis clinics, craft items, showbags, sausage sizzle and carnival attractions from 9am to 1pm.
"It literally is just about getting the community together," Ms Neilson said.
The carnival started last year, with a small offering of community groups.
However, this year's event is set to grow, with BRAG (Bunyip Renewables Action Group), Bunyip Historical Society, Bunyip Primary School, Columba Catholic Primary School, Longwarry Baptist Church and Bunyip Football Club amongst the community groups holding displays.
Ms Neilson said the carnival was perfect for newcomers to the district, families with young children looking for activities or adults looking to join a community group.
She said it would bring festive cheer to the town and was a great way to celebrate the year with friends, family and neighbours.
"People don't know what's on, think it's not for them or they're not invited," she said. "It's bringing the community together before Christmas."
The Myli library truck crew will offer face painting and balloon twisting, whilst the Cardinia Shire Council waste team will offer lots of children's activities.
Bunyip Primary School's "Glee Club" will provide entertainment followed by live music from local Jessica Kealy.
The two local schools will conduct the sausage sizzle to raise funds, Bunyip Tennis Club will provide free clinics and Bunyip Historical Society will have a stall with photographs from the past on display.
