Attempted car theft

Witnesses dragged a man from a vehicle during an attempted car theft in a Warragul carpark on Friday morning.
Police were called to an incident in the Williams Square carpark at about 8.30am.
They allege a woman had just parked her car and was walking around to the passenger side when a man jumped into the driver's seat and tried to drive off.
Two witnesses quickly responded and pulled the man out of the vehicle. They held him until police arrived.
A 27-year-old from Drouin was arrested and charged with attempted theft of a motor vehicle, unlawful assault and drug possession.
He was bailed to appear at Latrobe Valley Magistrates' Court at a later date.
