Six local playgrounds across Baw Baw Shire will gain a fresh look with $300,000 in equipment upgrades.
Mayor Annemarie McCabe encouraged residents of all ages to share their thoughts and ideas on the upgrades to parks in Drouin, Longwarry, Noojee, Yarragon and Trafalgar.
"Refreshing our playgrounds means that there are plenty of opportunities for local families and parents to enjoy our community and its facilities," Cr McCabe said.
"I look forward to seeing our littlest citizens out and about making the most of this new play equipment very soon."
The playgrounds scheduled for renewal by June 2024 are: Bellbird Park in Drouin; Toy Park in Longwarry; Noojee Riverside Playground; Dowton Park in Yarragon; and Apex Park and Briona Court Playground, both in Trafalgar.
More than $300,000 will be invested by council as part of its 2023/24 playground renewal program.
This program provides like-for-like replacement of worn equipment, rather than playground re-design. However, should budget remain following required replacement work, it may be used to include new features.
As part of previous programs, council has upgraded playgrounds in Drouin, Jindivick, Rawson and Warragul, plus many more.
"The playground renewal program is an important part of council's commitment to keeping our shire safe, modern and fit for purpose for everyone," Cr McCabe added.
