Music students from St Paul’s Anglican Grammar School recently attended the annual ‘Generations in Jazz’ festival in Mt Gambier, South Australia.
The Generations in Jazz festival brings together around 3700 music students from all around Australia to celebrate jazz music and compete in a range of divisions.
In the division three stage awards the St Paul’s Big Band finished seventh out of 30 bands and the St Paul’s Voices ensemble finished 12th out of 23 groups.
Year 12 student Sanji Aneja was selected out of 53 schools to play the guitar in the division three ‘Super Band’ which is formed out of the highest standard musicians from all bands in each division and consists of one student per instrument.
The students were entertained in the evening by headline acts such as ‘Take 6’ (a multi Grammy winning vocal group from Los Angeles) and James Morrison’s band ‘The Hot Horn Happening.’
