Warragul (8/133) def. by Garfield-Tynong (2/138)
The usual suspects played a pivotal role in Garfield-Tynong's eight-wicket win over Warragul in division two, with the Titans compressively stifling the Gulls scoring.
Patrick Mulqueen (24 from 57) and Lachlan Ramage (42* off 67) provided adequate resistance throughout Warragul's innings but against the likes of Krishan Rangajith (2/14 from 8) and Kasun Ranasinghe (2/20 off 8) they found scoring nigh on impossible.
After restricting Warragul to 8/133, Garfield-Tynong quickly set about seizing momentum, and with Jake Van den Berghe (42 from 104) in complete control, Luke Wilson (78* off 80) was able to break the shackles, the Titans reaching 2/138 in just the 32nd over.
Western Park (98) def. by Drouin (5/100)
Elsewhere, Western Park suffered a shock five-wicket loss at the hands of Drouin, with the Warriors' top and middle order struggling to find their way against a devastating spell from Paul Timewell. Ben Mills (13 off 11) was typically aggressive early, but once he departed – trapped in front by Mitch Goodwin – wickets tumbled.
Timewell was at his parsimonious best in a spell of 4/6 from eight and together with Ravindu Chamalka Kankanamgamage Don (2/14) bundled the Warriors out for 98.
Mills (4/20 off 8) did his best to inspire an upset win, but Kankanamgamage Don (30* from 54) and Matthew Stevens (18* off 35) overcame some early wobbles to help Drouin to victory.
Buln Buln (254) def. Hallora (151)
In the final encounter of the weekend Corey Jagoe sent yet another reminder of his destructive prowess, notching a scarcely believable 142 off 87 balls.
Recent struggles had seen the Lyrebirds not as feared as perhaps they should be, and Jagoe – who amassed 14 fours and seven sixes – ensured no-one will take his side lightly as the season progresses.
Lachlan Jagoe (36 off 68) and Wilson Pollock (26 from 17) provided support as Buln posted 254.
In reply, Dan Reiner struck a valiant 39 but he lacked the requisite support to chase down such a target, and the run rate pressure saw the Kangaroos dismissed for 151 in the 35th over.
